Australian low-value and GST basics
- Australian Border Force says online purchases follow the same import rules, duties, and screening as other goods.
- Goods valued at AUD1,000 or less generally have no duty, tax, or charge payable at the border, excluding categories such as alcohol and tobacco.
- GST may instead be collected by an overseas seller on low-value goods at the point of sale.
- Goods over AUD1,000 generally require an Import Declaration and payment of applicable duty, tax, and processing charges.
- Biosecurity, safety, prohibited-goods, and permit rules can apply regardless of value.

Fandom merch and Australian biosecurity

Does Australia inspect online purchases?
Yes. ABF may screen, x-ray, or examine imported goods, and biosecurity authorities may also need to clear certain products.
Can I combine snacks with merchandise?
Only eligible products should be shipped. Food and biological materials need more careful screening than ordinary printed or plastic merchandise; check them before consolidation.
